About the Author...
If Edward Gorey and Dr Seuss engaged in a, frankly, severely sickening alliance of pro-creation, and subsequently forced the offspring to be a Brighton punk, Andy-Lee Fry would be rather redundant.
He lives and works in the city of Brighton & Hove on the south coast of the UK, and by his own admission spends a rather significant amount of his time creating things in his laboratory or deciding which are cooler: Superheroes or Pirates?
In 2005 Andy-Lee formed the creative imprint/production company called The Illusory Bureau for his many horrid creations to live inside, and to encourage others with similar ambitions of creating good horrid fun bits to show off like attention-seeking toddlers with dancing pants on!
As well as The Rather Unfortunates (book, comic, and animation), Andy-Lee is currently also working on a series of novels 'The Psychiatric Fairytales' and a collection of short stories about doomed superheroes entitled 'Of Ninja Moose and Sherbetmen..'.
He occasionally ventures outside to perform stand-up comedy, and he despises writing in the third person.
Influences include, Edward Gorey (The Gashleycrumb Tinies is indeed a work of genius), Dr Seuss (this one goes without saying!), Tim Burton (Vincent is such a lovely piece), Roald Dahl (my favourite is George's Marvellous Medecine), and The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster .
Andy-Lee Fry is much friendlier than he looks, so do drop him a thingy here:
